After breaking his own world record in the 100 metres at the Beijing Olympics, slowing down pumping his fist to his chest and celebrating, the big question is HOW FAST CAN THIS MAN GO? This 9.69 looked so easy and he also spent time looking to his right for his country man, Asafa Powell, who was nowhere to be found. With a wind reading of 0 m/s, one wonders what the new world record would have been had it been 1.6 m/s. Tell us how much faster this man can go and what you expect to see in the 200 metres.

9.4 is a definate possibility under ideal conditions

THE FEMALES WILL WIN THE 4X100 ALSO IN RECORD TIME
LIVELY SEH DAT
wish the same for the Jamaicans
usain is the future this. with seriousness and dedication this guy can go bout 8.5. he is superb and is unlike anything the world have ever seen. this even will be in everyone’s heart especially jamaica for years to come. once again Jamaica has proven with only 1.7 million in population. how competitive and how wonderful our people are
this youth is the best in the world
if he wants to usain can defiitely go faster. he slowed down in the finals and ran a sub-9.70 time so he definitely has more in him. wen he’s ready or wen he is pushed in arce to do it i feel we will see wat he is capable of. he surely seems to be able to run 9.50s or even better- less. i guess we’ll know one day. right now we can only guess. lol
Judging on the performance in the Olympic final I think Usain would have run between 9.55 – 9.60 had he run flat out to the finish …
Bearing in mind it was a nil wind reading you are looking at a 9.50 with a 2.0m (max legal) wind behind him !!!
I still can’t believe what I’ve seen … from 1968 to 1983 the record only went from 9.95 (Jim Hines) to 9.93 Calvin Smith … so what Usain did has moved the record on in astronomical proportions.
I never thought I’d see a guy run sub 9.7 and the fact he did it celebrating and coasting the last 20m leaves me speachless.
Usain Bolt … a once in a lifetime speedster .. may he run even faster
None can compare,he is one in a million.Thank you Bolt ,you have pave the way for other junior olympians. The record has been broken by a Jamaican wonder how the so call “great” Americans feel.
He is a Jamaican.A man with pride
